How much do I get?
I will pay you a percentage of the current retail value of the records.
The exact percentage will depend upon:
- The quantity of records you have to sell
- The condition of the records
- The average value of the records
eg I’ll pay higher percentage for a large collection of high value records in near mint condition than a mixed bag of records worth less than £5 each.
Condition
Condition is crucial – the better the condition the records are, in the more demand there is for them. Records without any visible marks can be graded visually which is much faster then listening to each record in full (45 minutes or so each).
See the description of the different grades applied to records.
Average value
Records worth less than £5 are much harder to sell online -partly because it costs £3.50 to post a record within the UK.
These records also take the same amount of time to sell as higher value records which often makes the return negligible
See a list of some of the stuff I’m definitely not interested in buying.
How do I get the full market value?
The simple answer is to sell them yourself!
It’s not hard to sell records on ebay or discogs it just takes time and effort and some of the following…
- Commission of 10-15% to paypal/ebay/discogs
- Postage and packaging
- Time to grade and list records
- Communications with buyers / potential buyers / time wasters
- Endless trips to the post office
- Storage space
- More time – it may take years to sell your collection
